The four-seater Koenigsegg Gemera supercar finally arrives in a production version that reveals an interesting surprise: an additional V8 engine and a power of up to 2300 hp.
The Swedish manufacturer of exclusive supercars, Koenigsegg, presented its four-seater Gemera supercar back in April 2020, when the public literally marveled at the technology used. The carmaker opted for a twin-turbo supercharged 2.0-liter three-cylinder engine, which it supplemented with three electric motors. The result was an impressive combined output of 1,700 horsepower as well as the ability to drive purely electric.
However, as foreign colleagues pointed out with reference to the Koenigsegg Registry, the carmaker recently finally presented the production version of the Gemera model, which will offer a real surprise. A car company will optionally offer to replace the hybrid three-cylinder with a 5.0-liter V8 engineapparently taken from the Agera and Jesko models.
The performance of the four-seat supersport should thus increase to 2300 hp and 2750 Nm torque. That is, at least when burning E85 fuel, which was also necessary to achieve 1,700 horsepower from a smaller three-cylinder. The eight-cylinder engine is connected to the nine-speed Koenigsegg Light Speed Transmission, the name of which refers to the promised speed of gear changes.
However, a large engine also means a large surcharge. Those who wish for a V8 will have to to pay an additional 400,000 dollars, which translates to almost 8.7 million crowns. At the same time, we still do not know the prices of the car itself.
The introduction of a new engine is not the only change brought about by the introduction of the production version. For example, the car company changed virtual mirrors for classic onesas some states have not yet legalized cameras as a substitute for classic rear-view mirrors.
Also new should be the Ghost Package, which adds an enlarged front splitter, modified wing and aerodynamically optimized exterior elements. However, the optimization of aerodynamics meant a reduction of the space under the front hood, which used to be space for luggage.
Although the car company showed off the production version and already showed a driving prototype last year, the first customers will probably not get their cars until 2025. Production should be limited to 300 units.
