Koen Wauters has in an interview with weekly magazine Story looking back on his breakup with Valerie De Booser. “We wanted nothing more than to stay together forever, but we had to admit that we had grown apart,” it sounds.

Wauters (54) and De Booser (41) announced at the beginning of 2020 that they separated after sixteen years of marriage. However, the singer looks back on that time with warm feelings: “What we experienced all those years was certainly true love,” he says. Story. “We can’t pretend it was all bad, then we would deny all those good moments. You know, we wanted nothing more than to stay together forever. That was the plan. We fought for that to the very end. Only we also had to be honest with ourselves, and so admit that we had grown apart over the years.”
Wauters has not found love again since then, he has been single for two years. “I like that very much. You can always do your way because you don’t have to take anyone into account. Comfortable! And okay, I’m alone, but I don’t feel lonely at all. Never even. I have two children, three dogs and a lot of pursuits and interests. I’m not bored for a second. Actually I’m quite one happy guy.”
