Ronald Koeman thinks that Lionel Messi can bring more, but continues to trust the Argentinian. The trainer of FC Barcelona expects him to show himself more in the coming games.
Messi has only scored once after four games. “It could be that Messi can perform better, but he is happy, wants to be captain and is improving,” said Koeman at a press conference. “He was unlucky with a ball on the post (against Getafe, ed.). I have no doubt about his qualities, we will see him more emphatically in the coming games.”
Barcelona will play against Ferencváros in the Champions League on Tuesday. Koeman refuses to make his team the favorite for the overall victory. “Given what has happened recently, we are not the favorite, but we can get far”, Koeman refers to last year’s dramatic elimination.
“At Barcelona you always want to win, in Spain and in Europe. But there are more favorites, including us.”
