Palakkad: Accused in Kodumbu Karinkarapulli case of two youths being buried in a field. Palakkad district police chief R. said that the owner of the land, Ananthakumar (53), was taken into custody and the arrest will be registered today. Anand told the media. The dead bodies of friends Kottekkad Thekekunnam Karokotupura Shijith (22) and Pudusherry Kalandithara Satish (22) were found buried in a field in Karinkarapulli. Both bodies were exhumed on Wednesday morning in the presence of the RDO, forensic surgeon and senior police officials. Both of them later confirmed that they died.

The dead bodies were buried one on top of the other without clothes. The accused dug only 70 cm deep. The police said that the bodies were buried after the stomach was torn to prevent them from swelling.

The owner of the land, Anantha Kumar, was taken into custody by the police on Tuesday on suspicion of burying dead bodies in the field. However, he gave conflicting statements in the first instance. He confessed to the crime during detailed interrogation.

The accused stated that an electric trap had been installed in the field for wild boars and the two youths died of shock due to this. On Monday morning, when they came to check the electric trap, they found two people dead. The accused told the police that he got scared and hid the dead bodies.

The district police chief’s response was that they are investigating whether anyone else was involved in the incident. After examining the CCTV footage of the area, it was found that the deceased youth and their companions reached the spot around 4.50 am on Monday. Later, it is believed that the two deceased and the others turned in two and went to two places. When Ananthakumar, the owner of the place, arrived on Monday morning, he found two people dead. Then on Monday night, the accused dug a hole and hid the bodies. The pit was only 70 cm deep. The abdomen was torn to prevent the body from swelling. The district police chief also explained that after the investigation, the accused had left the electric trap installed here at another place.
