A dream year ending and the beginning of a new one: the swimmer Kristel Koebrich was once again highlighted by the specialized portal Swimming channel with the prize Best Swimming for the best swimmer in Latin America of 2022recognition it had already received in the previous edition.
Is that at 37 years old, the Santiago woman is still fully active in the business. The proof of that of her was his extraordinary participation in the South American Games in Asunción last year, where he got a new gold for his record after winning the final of the 1,500m freestyle, one of his specialties.
Furthermore, in the edition held in the capital of Paraguay, he remained two silver medals in the 400 and 800 metresresults that once again earned her recognition as the best in Latin America.
Precisely these antecedents were highlighted by the portal itself on its website: “Just over 50% of the votes went to Chilean Odesur Games champion Kristel Köbrich (…). In this sense, he added “He was at the World Cup in Budapest, where he participated in its tenth edition, the highest number in the history of the competition.”
In this regard, the national athlete took advantage of his social networks to underline and thank him for the award obtained: “We close this year, with this Award, Best Swimmer in Latin America… how incredible. Work, passion, love, humility, respect, pride… Thank you. Hello 2022/Hello 2023″wrote about it.
It should be remembered that throughout his career the Chilean has 18 medals at the South American Games, thanks to eight gold medals: to that obtained in Asunción are added those obtained in Buenos Aires 2006 (2), Medellín 2010 (1), Santiago 2014 (2) and Cochabamba 2018 (2). To these are added another eight of silver and two of bronze during 20 years of participation and six editions held.
The Kristel Köbrich affair was not only an outstanding career at Odesur level. Proof of this are his five participations in the Olympic Gamesthe first of which dates back to 2004 in Athens. It has been featured in all subsequent editions since then.
He even engraved his name world ten in which it reached 7 finals, the last played in Budapest, Hungary, in the just passed year 2022.
Already for this 2023 the great challenges of Köbrich will be World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka (Japan) between 14 and 30 July and then on Pan American Games in Santiagoevent that will take place between 20 October and 5 November.
In the biggest sports competition on the continent, adds the swimmer five medals thanks to those achieved in Santo Domingo 2003 (bronze), Guadalajara 2011 (gold and bronze), Toronto 2015 (silver) and Lima 2019 (silver).
In the race to be held in Chile, the goal is to repeat what was done twelve years ago in Mexicowhere did he get the only gold of his career in said competition after staying with the 800-meter freestyle event.
