The widow of US basketball star Kobe Bryant († 41) sued the airlines involved after the helicopter accident that killed her husband, daughter Gianna († 13) and seven other people on January 26.
–
The death of the nine people was a “direct result of the negligent behavior” of the deceased pilot Ara Zoboyan (51), according to Vanessa Bryant (37). The pilot “did not take the usual care when controlling the aircraft concerned,” the Los Angeles Times quotes from the documents. The widow claims damages of an undisclosed amount.

On the same day, just under a month after Bryant’s death, thousands of fans gathered in Los Angeles for a commemoration at the Staples Arena, the home for nearly the basketball superstar’s 20-year NBA career.
