The Dutch are looking for a new selection after the departure of Ronald Koeman to Barcelona.
The Dutch team will meet next month for international matches against Mexico, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Italy. The intention is that there will be a new national coach on the bench.
Frank de Boer is one of the great candidates to take the lead. The former defender of Ajax and Barcelona has already said that he would find it “a great honor” to become the national coach of Orange.
“Besides prime minister, it is perhaps the most important function of the Netherlands,” said 50-year-old De Boer, himself a 112-time Dutch international.
De Boer made a name for himself as a trainer at Ajax, with 4 league titles. But at Internazionale and Crystal Palace he did not go as well. De Boer was soon fired from both clubs.
De Boer also had to leave the American club Atlanta United early at the end of July. Record international Wesley Sneijder called De Boer last week “the ideal candidate” to succeed Koeman at Orange.
In recent weeks, Louis van Gaal, Peter Bosz, Henk ten Cate and Bert van Marwijk have also been frequently associated with the Dutch national team. Frank Rijkaard announced through his spokesperson that he is not available.
