KNVB includes controversial penalty moment at Feyenoord-PSV in evaluation | Football

The referee affairs department of the KNVB will evaluate the much-discussed moment during the Feyenoord-PSV (1-0) cup match on Wednesday. The referee did not award a penalty when PSV player Noa Lang went to the ground, which angered his coach Peter Bosz.

The KNVB does not want to make any further statements about the moment. The association can only confirm that the situation will be included in Wednesday’s evaluation. “Just like in other cases in competitions where there is something to do,” the KNVB reports ANP.

In the second half of the cup cracker in De Kuip, Lang fell in the sixteen-meter area during a duel with Feyenoord player Mats Wieffer. Many viewers thought it would be a penalty, but referee Dennis Higler allowed play to continue.

That wasn’t even what made Bosz so angry. The PSV coach was particularly angry because VAR Clay Ruperti did not choose to call Higler to the side to watch the moment on a video screen.

Feyenoord then took the 1-0 lead. The Rotterdam team thus qualified for the quarter-finals of the cup tournament, in which AZ is the opponent on Wednesday, February 7.

After the match, Bosz expressed his anger in every possible way. “It is possible that a referee does not see that,” said the Apeldoorn trainer. “That may be quite difficult. But the video referee sees the images. Wieffer hits him full on the foot.”

Bosz even referred to the blind musician Jules de Corte, who died in 1996. “I would like to discuss this with you,” the PSV coach told the journalists. “But you’re not going to win that argument.”
