Loriot co-star Nikolaus Schilling died at 98

Actor Nikolaus Schilling is dead. At the age of 98, the actor known from the Loriot films died on December 1st in an old people’s home in Holzminden, Lower Saxony, according to the local newspaper “Daily scoreboard“Now reported.
He has lived in the senior citizens’ residence since 2015 – the days as a TV celebrity were a long time ago.

His appearances made Schilling a cult: The native of Detmold played alongside the legendary cabaret artist and actor Vicco von Bülow († 87) alias Loriot.
One of the joint films – “Pappa ante portas” – is shown on ARD on New Year’s Eve. In the comedy, Schilling plays a peddler who prophesies the end of the world. The film, directed by Loriot, can also be seen on Netflix.
Schilling also appeared in the Loriot film “Oedipussi” (1988) and in the famous “Jedermann” play. Also legendary is his appearance in 1974 in the television series “Ein Herz und ein Seele”. In the episode “Visiting from the Eastern Zone” he played Diether Krebs’ father.
He had his last guest appearance in front of the camera in 2006 in the Sat.1 series “A case for the fox”.
