Fimela.com, Jakarta After getting the injection Covid-19 vaccine at the age of 18 years, there may be side effects such as pain at the injection point, headache, fatigue, muscle aches, and fever. However, this condition is different for each person, some even feel good after getting this Covid-19 vaccine.
Then what about the children who have been allowed to Covid-19 vaccine using Sinovac? Following this, the Indonesian Food and Drug Administration (BPOM) gave approval for the use of the CoronaVac vaccine produced by Sinovac and Bio Farma’s COVID-19 (processed product of Sinovac raw materials) to children aged 6-11 years.
According to the Head of the National Commission for Post-Immunization Adverse Events (KIPI), Hinky Hindra, Irawan Satari, the side effects are not much different from adults. The symptoms in question are a painful reaction at the injection site or fever.
“The symptoms are the same as adults. Maybe there are several proportions, yes. Even if they are different, they don’t differ that much,” said Hindra, launching Health Liputan6.com.
He said when vaccinated there was a local reaction at the injection site such as pain. Then the body reacts like a fever.
Regarding the side effects of the Sinovac vaccine for children, Hindra also sees evidence of the use of Sinovac for childhood vaccinations in a number of countries. China, for example, has injected Sinovac even into children as young as 3 years old.
“If we look at children aged 12 years, they have already been vaccinated. There are reports of AEFI or side effects, but not more than adults,” continued Hindra.
Hindra Irawan hopes that the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 6-11 years which will be carried out later can run smoothly. Moreover, COVID-19 vaccination for children has also been carried out in Indonesia.
“We have already carried out (COVID-19 vaccination) for adults, the elderly, health workers, teenagers, so hopefully the vaccination for children 6-11 years old will be smoother.”
