About 700,000 flu shots will arrive next Tuesday in our country, reported the newspaper The country and confirmed sources from the Ministry of Public Health (MSP) to Montevideo Portal.
The inoculation campaign will be carried out by the Honorary Commission for the Fight against Tuberculosis and Prevalent Diseases (Chlaep). Priority will be given to children from six months to five years old, over 60 years old and health personnel.
The undersecretary of Public Health, José Luis Satdjian, said at a press conference that the schedule “will be the same as the vaccination campaign last year.” “Age and interest groups will be prioritized, such as health workers, older adults, children, people with pathologies or comorbidities,” he assured.
“It will be without an agenda, staggered, so that people can be vaccinated in the centers that are going to be available,” he added. Satdjian explained that “we are working on the usual vaccinations” and are betting on “a campaign with the same adherence that it has had in recent years.”
“2020 was a record year, we distributed a million doses, last year 750 thousand,” he said. Satdjian made reference to the fact that this campaign will be promoted together with the vaccination campaign against the coronavirus.
“Whoever has the anti-covid vaccination dose scheduled can also be vaccinated with the flu vaccine dose,” said the undersecretary.
From the MSP they informed Montevideo Portal that next week more details about the flu vaccination campaign will be provided.
