Through an announcement made by the Welfare Secretariat The return of the Universal Pensionwhich aims to eliminate discrimination against People with disabilities. The call will open in May and will offer the option of a economical support to this sector of the population.
This benefit will be granted to people with disabilities from 0 (Zero) to 65 years of age within the entire Mexican Republic.
Since the beginning of 2022, people who have the Universal Pension have received financial support of 2,800 pesos every two months.

Requirements to register for the Universal Pension for people with disabilities
People who have a disability and wish to be part of the program must carry out a procedure at the Welfare Secretariat, for more information and support they should contact the Welfare line: 800 639 4264.
The documentation that must be presented is the following:
- Valid official identification
- Proof of address no older than three months
- Legible birth certificate
- Unique Population Registry Code (CURP)
- Medical certificate validating permanent disability
- Single Welfare Form filled out correctly
- Disability verification card filled out correctly.
The medical certificate must be issued by public institutions of the health sector, whether federal, state or municipal.
In the event that the applicant requires an assistant, he or she must also present a document that proves the relationship with the person with a disability.

According to the Undersecretary of Welfare of the Mexican government, Ariadna Montiel Reyes, the Universal Pension is part of an agreement proposed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador at the National Conference of Governors (Conago).
“The objective of the president is that, at the end of the six-year term, all people with disabilities have support,” he said during the incorporation event to the Pension for Older Adults.
