What are the tolerances when flashed?

However, no distinction is made between stationary and mobile speed cameras. As a rule, at speeds of up to 100 km/h, exactly 3 km/h are deducted. Speeds above this are usually reduced by 3 percentage points before the fine is applied.
How do mobile speed cameras work?
Unlike permanently installed flash units, mobile speed cameras are quick and easy to set up and can therefore be lurking on every street corner. In one variant, the device is simply screwed onto a tripod and is then ready for use. It often flashes from cars parked on the side of the road. The technologies used are similar to those of stationary speed cameras. Usually one works with electromagnetic waves or light signals, which are emitted by the speed camera, reflected by the vehicle and thrown back to the measuring device. The speed can then be calculated from the time between sending and receiving the signal.
The rules for speed camera detectors
According to Section 23 of the Road Traffic Act, StVO for short, drivers are prohibited from operating or carrying ready-to-use technical devices that are intended to display or disrupt traffic monitoring measures. Not only radar detectors are affected, but also so-called laser jammers. If you have a cell phone with a speed camera app installed, you don’t have to worry about anything at first. It is only punishable if you have switched it on while driving. However, if you have an external radar detector installed on the dashboard and it is ready for use at short notice by means of a power supply, you are committing a criminal offense within the meaning of the Road Traffic Act.
