For the Nazi Forced Labor Documentation Center in Berlin-Schöneweide, the Topography of Terror Foundation is looking, subject to available funds, for an open-minded and committed person to work on a scientific project with a focus on Nazi camp research (m/f/d), probably by February 1, 2025.
The project in cooperation with the Berlin State Monuments Office aims to record and research the Nazi-era forced labor camps in Berlin. The position is limited to two years and currently has weekly working hours. 39.4 hours are paid according to the collective agreement of the states (TV-L, pay group 13). With a 5-day week you get 30 days of vacation. We also make an additional payment for the Deutschlandticket job.

The area of work includes in particular the following tasks:
Content research, analysis and evaluation of scientific document materials, photo collections and interviews on the subject of Nazi forced labor camps in Berlin
Researching and evaluating written sources/archives as well as war and post-war aerial photographs, city maps and camp plans in the relevant archives, in particular in the Berlin State Archives and the Berlin Federal Archives, as well as researching in other archives that contain material on forced labor camps. Researching literature on Nazi forced labor Berlin and individual warehouse locations
Completing the documentation center’s camp database and creating a “profile” for each camp (historical and structural information, sources, photographs)
Required Qualifications:
Completed university studies (Magister/Master/Diploma) in the field of history with a focus on modern/modern history or comparable courses
Relevant experience in analyzing historical documents and plans/aerial photographs on the subject of forced labor camps.
Verifiable publications and/or reports on forced labor camp locations
A strong ability to work interdisciplinarily is desirable
