Jakarta –
Deputy Secretary General PDIP Arief Wibowo alluded to the Pro Jokowi volunteer group (Projo) is not a political party that can participate in the election contestation. Responding to this, Projo ensured that only mass organizations were legal entities.
This was conveyed by the Secretary General of the DPP Projo Handoko. He agrees with PDIP that Projo is just an independent mass organization that is not affiliated with any party.
“Projo mass organizations, not political parties. But we are not onderbouw (wing organizations) of any party,” said Handoko as in his statement, Wednesday (8/6/2022).
Handoko said that since the V 2022 National Work Meeting in the Borobudur Temple area last May, Projo has often received various accusations. One of the accusations is that Projo is considered a political party because he communicates with political parties to discuss national agendas
“It must be underlined that Projo does not represent the interests of the party,” said Handoko.
Meanwhile, Projo General Treasurer Panel Barus explained that the Projo organization is a support group for President Jokowi that was founded in 2013, before Jokowi received a recommendation as a 2014 presidential candidate from the PDI-P.
At that time, he said, groups supporting the presidential candidates emerged as a form of citizen political voluntarism because the role of political parties was considered insufficient to accommodate people’s aspirations.
“As long as the assessment is still in the community, political volunteers will continue to appear,” said the Panel.
