The KNMI has issued code orange for the provinces of Limburg, Brabant and Gelderland due to the slipperiness caused by black ice. Code yellow is in force in the rest of the country, except for the western coastal provinces and Friesland.
According to the KNMI, the slipperiness in Limburg can continue until the afternoon. In the other provinces, the weather warning is in effect until at least 8 a.m.
In Brabant and Limburg, (wet) snow may fall in the coming hours, which can make it very slippery locally.
Dozens of accidents have already happened in Gelderland due to the slipperiness, writes Omroep Gelderland. Including on the A1 and the A12 from Germany, both roads are now free again.
The ANWB expects a busier morning rush hour on Dutch roads.
There is no weather code in Groningen, the western coastal provinces and the Wadden Islands. It remains dry with occasional light rain. Occasionally the sun will show itself and it will be 4 to 8 degrees.
