The KNMI issued a yellow code for the whole country on Friday. Regular showers are expected, with thunderstorms, hail and strong gusts of wind.
In the south-west of the country, the alert is in effect from 13:00. Bad weather is expected from 4 pm in the other provinces. The KNMI expects the showers to disappear into the night from Friday to Saturday.
Wind gusts of 75 to 80 kilometers per hour can occur in the coastal provinces. Inland, the gusts of wind reach a speed of 75 kilometers per hour.
In particular, the safety regions in the north of the country also warn of bad weather. The Drenthe safety region tweets that people should prepare well for bad weather. “Clean loose items around your house and close windows and doors. Don’t hide under the trees.”
The Groningen safety region tweets: “Prepare well for adverse weather conditions and know who to call when.”
Rijkswaterstaat has already reported an intense afternoon rush hour earlier in the day and warns road users to be aware of strong gusts of wind. Especially along the coast and around the IJsselmeer, motorists suffer from this during storms (thunder).
