The KNMI warns of heavy thunderstorms that may develop on Monday. A ‘code yellow’ has been announced for the province of Groningen.
The warning is in effect from Monday evening at 19:00. “During the afternoon, the chance of thunderstorms will increase,” reports the KNMI. “Especially in the north and east of the country, there is a chance of heavy thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. These showers may bring heavy rain that can cause damage and inconvenience, with locally more than thirty millimeters falling. There may also be wind gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour that can be a nuisance for outdoor activities and traffic.”
In addition to Groningen, the warning also applies to the provinces of Friesland, Drenthe, Overijssel, Gelderland and the Wadden area. The thunderstorms will pass during the evening. Code yellow applies until midnight.
