Knife attack in Frankfurt: 20-year-old in custody

A 20-year-old suspect is in custody for a knife attack in downtown Frankfurt. A judge ordered this over the weekend, a police spokesman said on Monday morning. It is about the charge of attempted manslaughter. The officials had already reported on the incident, but it was initially unclear whether detention was also ordered.

The young man is said to have stabbed a knife in the upper body of a 20-year-old during a dispute between two groups on Friday. The victim is now out of danger after an operation, the police said on Sunday.

According to the officials, the act on the Zeil near the main guard station and the suspect’s subsequent escape was filmed by a surveillance system. Civil investigators caught the 20-year-old on the Main Bridge at the Eiserner Steg. Officers found the suspected murder weapon on him.
