Knife Attack in Chinese Hospital: 2 Dead, 21 Wounded in Zhaotong, Yunnan

Two people were killed and 21 wounded in a knife attack at a hospital in southwest China, Reuters news agency reported, citing local media. The attack took place at a hospital in the city of Zhaotong in Yunnan province.

The suspect is a local resident, reports a local media in Yunnan, which Reuters says.

A photo published by the government-controlled news site The Paper shows a man in a hospital hallway pointing a knife at another person, who himself is wielding a long stick. The Paper shares also pictures of police officers arriving at the hospital.

Local media reports that a suspect has been arrested, but this has not yet been officially confirmed. The reason for the attack is still unknown.

There have been more stabbings in recent years. There have been a number of knife attacks in schools. In 2020 a security guard at a nursery school in the south of the country injured 39 people with a knife, including 37 children. And last year, six people were killed in a stabbing at a nursery school, taking – enter… three children.
