Three people were injured, one seriously, in a knife attack at Gare de Lyon station in Paris. The victim is out of danger. The police have arrested a suspect.
The incident took place at around 7:30 am at one of Paris’ busiest train stations. According to French media, the suspect is a 32-year-old man with a Malian background and in possession of an Italian residence permit. The man is said to have had not only a knife, but also a hammer.
The police say that the suspected perpetrator suffers from psychiatric problems and that a terrorist motive is not yet obvious.
French Interior Minister Darmanin called it an “unbearable act” and expressed his gratitude to “those who restrained the perpetrator.”
