Knife attack at a festival in a German city: there are dead and injured

Three people were killed and at least four wounded in a knife attack on Friday at a festival in the western German city of Solingen, police said.

Details: Witnesses told the police after 21:30 am that an unknown person had stabbed several people in the central square. Police said the gunman is on the run and that they have very little information about the attacker at this time.

One of the organizers of the festival, Philipp Müller, said that many people were injured by the “man with the knife”.

In addition, the release notes, a helicopter was seen in the sky, many police and emergency vehicles were on the roads with their lights flashing, and several streets were blocked.

The mayor of the city, Tim Kurzbach, wrote on Facebook that “we are all shocked tonight in Solingen. We wanted to celebrate our town’s anniversary together, but now we are dead and wounded to mourn.”

The publication noted that the “Festival of Diversity”, coinciding with the city’s 650 years, began on Friday and was supposed to continue until Sunday.
