Monday night, the Knicks needed a win to tie the series. They weren’t crushed like in Game 3, but they could have been. The 109-101 loss was devastating and put New York on the brink of elimination.
The fans were in a frenzy in the final seconds and after the final buzzer, contemplating the loss and the future.
Knicks fans face Game 4 loss embracing despair
The Knicks let the Heat pass them 44-35, including 13-8 on offensive panels. They also lost the ball 17 times to Miami’s 13.
That was the difference in the game, with the Knicks shooting 48.7% from the field and 32.1% from the arc.
The mood of Game 4 could have been different had Jimmy Butler gone wild, but he didn’t need to be in god mode to pull off this win. He scored 27 points, grabbed six rebounds, delivered 10 assists, had two steals and two blocks, continuing to live up to his nickname as Jimmy of the Playoffs.
The Heat’s bench has been much more successful than the Knicks’. Kyle Lowry scored 15 points and Caleb Martin 10. The entire NY bench scored 10 points.
The Knicks now face an elimination game Wednesday in New York. Despite the advantage of their floor, the odds are stacked against them. Miami is 14-0 when leading a 3-1 series while the Knicks are 0-14 when down 3-1, par espn. No wonder Knicks fans are so desperate.
