Well placed in the playoff race in the East, the New York Knicks could look to improve their manpower to be competitive at the end of the season. Michele Scotto of HoopsHype mention several issues that may involve New York leaders.
The Knicks are currently seventh in the Eastern Conference, and are very close to the top 6 synonymous with direct playoff qualification. As the trade deadline approaches, three names in Tom Thibodeau’s workforce are likely to employ GM Scott Perry and the Knicks board.
Emanuel Quickley he got into the Knicks’ five majors for a few games, notably taking advantage of RJ Barrett’s injury. And the least we can say is that the titular costume does pretty well with the usual walking firecracker when he comes off the dugout. Indeed, Manu Rapidement averages a peak of 20.3 points over eight games started this season, well above his 12.3 average drives overall in 2022-23. Enough to attract some goal-seeking teams to the rear, given that, according to Scotto, the Bucks, the Mavs and the Wizards have come to the information. The fullback, who earns $2.3 million this season, is on contract through 2024 (albeit with a potential qualifying bid in 2024-25).
Second but not least, Reddish cam, who was predicted to be the future Kawhi Leonard during his draft in 2019. Three and a half years later, we’re rather dealing with Cas-holly-ail Lait-eau-narre. However, Scott Perry and his assistants wouldn’t be against the idea of evacuating the former Dukie today. There would apparently always be teams that believe in his potential, perhaps especially in his outside defence. And last but not least given that, again according to Scotto’s information, the Bucks and the Lakers are on the list of interested teams. For two second-round picks, the Knicks’ front office is reportedly set to offload the final year of Reddish’s contract for $5.9 million. who could also be offered a qualifying offer next summer.
In the end, last but not leastnotre Eva Fournier national. Not lastwhy with his salary at $18 million this season, another $18.8 million to be received next season, not forgetting a $19 million team option next season, Vavanne won’t be the easiest contract to evacuate on the Gotham side. But while before Christmas the native of 94 had been offered to the Lakers, since then the Frenchman’s situation has changed a bit. After a long disqualification from the New York franchise, the former Magic player is in fact back on the field, benefiting, like Quickley, from RJ Barrett’s injury…. but it’s still far from gaudy. Overall, Schwartzkopf’s insider muse is having a very, very difficult 2022-23 financial year and his future should – for the sake of his career – be written away from New York.
As you may have guessed, the Knicks board will have some work to do in the coming weeks. What wouldn’t we do to go play a derby against the Nets in the playoffs?
