Knee injury, Carvajal could miss two months to defend Madrid

Real Madrid hit by bad news. Dani carvajal had to be sidelined for two months after suffering a knee injury.

Carvajal played when Madrid beat Real Valladolid 1-0 at the Stadio Alfredo Di Stefano, Thursday (1/10/2020) in the morning WIB. He came on in the second half to replace Alvaro Odriozola, to be precise in the 57th minute.

The match turns out to be a disaster for Carvajal. He was declared to have suffered a knee injury the day after the match.

“After tests carried out on Dani Carvajal by Real Madrid’s medical services, he was diagnosed with an injury to the medial collateral ligament in his right knee and his recovery will continue to be monitored,” read a statement released by the club.

Madrid did not say how long it would take Carvajal to pull out. Some Spanish media, such as Brand, estimates that the 28-year-old defender will have to miss two months.

Carvajal is also likely to miss the El Clasico match against Barcelona in the Spanish League and in the Champions League match. The El Clasico will take place on 25 October while the preliminary round of the Champions League group stage is likely to take place on 20 or 21 October.

Coach Zinedine Zidane must now rely on Ordiozola at right-back. Left back Ferland Mendy is also said to be able to play in that position.

Dani Carvajal’s injury made the Real Madrid squad experience a crisis. Previously, Zidane had lost Eden Hazard, Toni Kroos, Eder Militao and Mariano Diaz. With no additional new players, Zinedine Zidane also seems to have to rack his brains so that no more of his players get injured.
