KNAB does not find any illegality of officials in organizing the procurement of face masks
Riga, October 17, LETA. The inspection of the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) has not detected any criminal activities of public officials in organizing the purchase of Covid-19 masks from the company registered in Singapore “ADDI Trading”, the agency LETA found out KNAB.
The procurement of these masks for the needs of state institutions was organized by the National Defense Military Facilities and Procurement Center (VAMOIC).
As a result of the KNAB inspection, it was not established that public officials had committed criminal activities related to corruption.
KNAB continues to monitor procurements related to the procurement of personal protective equipment for the control of Covid-19 and will react if necessary.
It has already been reported that in the spring, disposable medical masks were supplied to Latvia by the company “ADDI Trading PTE Ltd.” registered in Singapore.
VAMOIC signed a contract for the supply of 1,498,000 disposable medical masks. The total amount of the contract, excluding value added tax, was 988,680 euros.
In accordance with the regulations adopted by the government, after the end of the emergency situation on June 9, VAMOIC continues to procure personal protective equipment for the needs of all state institutions. Shortly after the declaration of the state of emergency, the government decided that VAMOIC would procure centralized personal protective equipment and disinfectants for the control of Covid-19 for the needs of all state institutions.
