Liverpool already brought Cody Gakpo in January of this year. Jurgen Klopp assessing Gakpo and the current Liverpool squad is enough.
Liverpool have signed Gakpo from PSV. The 23-year-old winger was bought on a £45m transfer fee.
However, there are still calls for Liverpool to sign again. Also, Mohamed Salah and others are trying to reach the top four in the Premier League and are still facing three competitions.
However, Klopp believes Liverpool cannot spend money on bringing in careless players. Klopp also felt that the request to re-sign was disrespectful to the players in the current squad.
“I’ve been here for seven years and every market is the same, we talk like there’s no money. But we can’t play monopoly,” Klopp said as reported by the BBC. Daily mail.
“We’ve signed great players like Cody Gakpo and the next thing you read is ‘Who’s next?’ It’s like we don’t already have great players.”
“It’s part of my philosophy to work with full confidence with the players we have and not to constantly doubt them by saying we need more players for their position,” Klopp continued.
“People are shocked when I say we’re not just going to make money. Yeah, I’ve never done that and I know this saying.”
“It has to be very clear. If there’s something we can do, and that means the right players and the financial situation, we’ll do it. And if not, then not,” Klopp said.
