Juergen Klopp officially extended his contract at Liverpool until 2026. This is a decisive step for Liverpool’s negotiations with Mohamed Salah–Sadio Mane?
Klopp extended his contract with an additional two years until 2026 on Thursday (28/4/2022) yesterday. Besides Klopp, Liverpool also ensured that his assistants, Pep Lijnders and Peter Krawietsz, also lasted longer.
For Klopp, this contract renewal means a change of plans. Initially he wanted to take a break after his old contract expired in 2023/2024.
Klopp’s contract renewal is believed to have opened Liverpool’s hopes in negotiations with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. Both contracts will expire in June 2023 and have yet to come to an agreement.
But Jurgen Klopp himself is not sure whether his new contract will be decisive for the club’s negotiations with the two players.
“That’s a question for the kids, what does this mean for them. But all is well. My relationship with both of them is fine,” he replied to BBC.
“In life there are more things to think about who the manager is, but knowing who the manager and his coaching staff are is also important.”
“If this is good news for the kids, great, but I don’t think it will be decisive for whatever decisions they need to make.”
“It’s their own life. We just want to make sure that everyone who wants to be here knows what they can expect,” Klopp continued.
