Idar-Oberstein Federal Minister of Agriculture Julia Klöckner (CDU) has shown herself affected by the deadly mask dispute in Idar-Oberstein in Rhineland-Palatinate, which is in her constituency. She also knows the gas station, which achieved notoriety late on Saturday evening.
A young man was shot dead by a customer there. “Why? Because there were different perspectives on the Corona rules, “said Klöckner, who is also the Rhineland-Palatinate state chairman of the CDU, in a video published on Wednesday on Twitter.

A 49-year-old who wanted to buy beer at the gas station in Idar-Oberstein is said to have shot the 20-year-old seller in the head on Saturday evening – after the young man had warned him twice about the corona-related mask requirement. The alleged shooter confessed to the crime, the German national is in custody on suspicion of murder. The police are now checking the suspect’s activity on social media.

Klöckner said in the video that the young employee at the petrol station had asked nothing other than that, which is self-evident, that everyone who enters the petrol station wears mouth-and-nose protection to protect themselves and others. As a result, he was shot – “actually almost unbelievable,” said Klöckner. “I am also concerned with how radicalized extreme perspectives can be and what they can lead to.”
