KLM sees second CEO leave within a week | NOW

After president-director Pieter Elbers left KLM prematurely on 1 July, operational director René de Groot is now leaving the company. The airline announced this on Wednesday.

Just like Elbers, De Groot (on the left in the photo) is also going to work for another airline. In his case, it concerns a similar position at KLM competitor British Airways.

De Groot worked for KLM for 32 years. His second term as director of operations continued until 2023.

Elbers has since been succeeded by Marjan Rintel, who returned to KLM after working for NS for a number of years. Of the three-member KLM board, financial director Erik Swelheim is now the longest serving.
