KLM resumes scheduled service to Cairo after three years

The Dutch airline uses a Boeing 777-200ER for its flights, making it one of the shortest routes on which KLM uses a widebody. There is room for 316 passengers on board that aircraft. Of these, 34 can travel in Business Class and the rest in Economy.

Passenger flights to Cairo were discontinued in 2017 due to a lack of profitability. KLM complained at the time, the economic situation in Egypt was too bad, and restrictions on the transfer of foreign currency also played tricks on the company.

Since then, KLM customers have been dependent on flights from sister company Air France, with a transfer in Paris. Only Egyptair flew directly to Cairo from Schiphol. KLM did continue to operate cargo flights to the Egyptian metropolis.
