KLM pilots are not stopping their work for an hour this morning for a better collective labor agreement. Trade union VNV had announced the short strike, but KLM reports that an agreement was reached last night.

According to the airline, the union and KLM have reached an ‘in broad outline’ agreement. The agreement must be further elaborated in the coming days.

The members of the pilots’ union must also still agree to the new collective labor agreement. “We are pleased that we were ultimately able to achieve this result through constructive consultation,” the airline wrote on its website.

Pay raise

VNV had announced the action because the collective labor agreement negotiations were very difficult. VNV demanded a pay increase of an average of 6 percent per year, while KLM offered no more than 5 percent. The pilots also want better working conditions, including more flexibility in the schedule. It has not been announced whether the pilots got their way.

The pilots planned to stop work between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. This would cause delays to approximately fifteen flights at Schiphol.
