KLM opens up new voluntary departure scheme | NOW

KLM opened a new voluntary departure arrangement on Monday. The airline hopes to prevent forced redundancies, although it is not clear how many employees can make use of the departure scheme.

KLM already announced last week that the departure scheme would be opened. In the meantime, one message of the Association of Dutch Cabin Crew to see what the conditions are.

For example, KLM employees who have worked at KLM for ten years or less receive a quarter of gross monthly salary per year of service. From the eleventh year of service, they receive one gross monthly salary per year of service, with a maximum allowance of eighteen gross monthly salaries.

The airline wants to cut a total of 7,500 jobs as a result of the corona crisis. That number has already shrunk somewhat by not renewing the contracts of 1,500 employees. Also, 2,000 people have already left a previous voluntary severance scheme. By the end of this year, KLM wants to employ about 4,500 fewer people than before the corona crisis.
