The flight ban does not apply to cargo flights, KLM says in a response. The flights scheduled for next Thursday and Thursday a week later will only continue as cargo flights. KLM will contact all customers who have booked tickets for those flights. KLM says it regrets the passenger ban.

Despite this, Hong Kong is currently experiencing a wave of contamination due to the omikron variant of the coronavirus. The Chinese authorities have instructed Hong Kong to ensure that that area, like mainland China, returns to zero corona infections.
