KLM commissioners opt for Marjan Rintel, but OR is in the wrong

The works council is against the appointment of Marjan Rintel as the new CEO of KLM. A source confirms this to the NOS after reporting from The Telegraph.

The Works Council is against the appointment, because the Supervisory Board has put forward Rintel as the successor to the current CEO Pieter Elbers without consulting the Works Council. In practice, the Works Council often has the right to give advice, for example by contributing to job interviews. But that didn’t happen.

If the works council is indeed insufficiently involved in the process, it can still go to court. This recently happened in France, where a case is ongoing regarding the appointment of a director at the parent company Air France-KLM.

It would also play a role in the background that Rintel resembles the current director of Air France, Anne Rigail, in terms of signature. The Supervisory Board would like to appoint a woman as CEO. KLM and the works council do not comment on questions from the NOS.

Marjan Rintel worked at KLM from 1999 to 2014 and held various managerial positions there. She also briefly served as vice president of marketing at the parent company. In 2014 she made the switch to NS, where she has been the highest boss since October 2020.
