Jurgen Klinsmann, legend of the German national team and his former coach, has revealed his choices for the most likely candidates for the 2022 World Cup, which will start on Sunday in Qatar.
“I am completely confident in Germany’s ability to reach the semi-finals, despite the difficulties,” Klinsmann said in a comment highlighted by Sport Bild.
He added: “If Manshafts finish second in their group, that’s a risk that puts you in front of the possibility of facing Brazil in the quarter-finals, which will make your transition to the golden square very difficult.”
The German football legend praised the Japanese national team, noting that they have several good players, as many of them play in the Bundesliga, but at the same time stressed the inevitability of the Germans to get through the group stage in various ways.
Klinsmann stressed that the German national team could benefit from Bayern Munich’s abundance of players, which would help strengthen harmony, especially with the short preparation period for the World Cup.
When asked about the teams nominated to win the World Cup title, he replied: “I see Brazil and Argentina as the luckiest, because I watched the South American qualifiers and Brazil were dominant and impressive.”
Furthermore, Klinsmann believes that keeping coach Tite in his position for a long time is in Selecao’s best interest.
As for Argentina, he said: “They have similar fortunes to Brazil, as Lionel Messi is in his last World Cup, as is Cristiano Ronaldo, who will focus fully on the tournament.”
He concluded: “Portugal are a very strong team, and they will fight and tear themselves apart for this man (Ronaldo), which makes for an exciting World Cup.”
