Klinikum Bielefeld: Instagram takeover of the nursing staff at ward 10.1

Bielefeld – For one day, on Monday, April 12th, the nurses at Ward 10.1 of the University Clinic for Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery at the Bielefeld Center Clinic will take over the Instagram account www.instagram.com/klinikum_bielefeld of the Bielefeld Clinic. On this day, exciting insights into everyday ward life are offered, from early shift to night shift!

The idea of such an “InstaTakeover”: For one working day, a group uses the Instagram account of the Bielefeld Clinic with its very own view of everyday clinical life Instatakeover, which is short for “Instagram Takeover”. Your own Instagram account is used by another person or a team for a predetermined period of time. The aim is for the nursing staff to convey personal, genuine and perhaps also new impressions of the work on the ward. Questions can also be asked at any time using the comment or message function.

The Instagram takeover is part of the #partialsganzen personnel campaign at the Bielefeld Clinic. The hospital is one of the pioneers in the hospital landscape in terms of the use of social media. A brief chronology: As early as 2009, the Bielefeld Clinic had an account with the short message service Twitter (www.twitter.com/Klinik_News) and since 2011 the clinic has been active with three Facebook accounts. The Instagram account has been around for three years and already has over 4,300 followers.

The focus of the work with social media is on placing medical, nursing and health-related topics around the Bielefeld Clinic and communicating our numerous patient events via the various channels. Outsiders should also be able to take a look behind the scenes of a hospital. In this way, the numerous professional groups also have the opportunity to present their day-to-day work. The online media, and especially Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, have become the key media for communication in the hospital over the years. In this way, the Bielefeld Clinic also reaches younger target groups with an interest in health information directly, even before it appears in the daily newspaper.
