The Islamic director and producer Ahmed Roberts Klimovičs commented on the decision of Latvian weightlifter Rebekah Koha to convert to Islam, Anastasia Kuzminova and Marta Kalniņa reported in “This is my decision” in the “Private Life” edition.
Klimovich explains that in sports, Muslim women have the same instructions as when away from home, namely, they should not naked and show their body parts to anyone – only their husbands. Islamic athletes follow this as well.
“I believe that serious sports do not increase femininity, but in Islam it is a great value. Girls are brought up as women, not men, from an early age. I believe that this is right, and maybe Rebecca will stop doing athletics,” Klimovičs said.
According to the publication, Rebeka herself is in no hurry to answer the questions whether she will continue to participate in the competition and represent Latvia in the world. It is not clear to anyone whether there will be a place for sports in her new life.
