“You still have the grief from a previous child”
During the past year, the actor Klas Eriksson has both lost a daughter and had a son. He now tells us what it’s like to lose a child and what the last year has been like.
Klas Eriksson is mainly known for his role as Leif Öhman in SVT‘s popular series Leif & Billy and in the past year has both done a stage show and released a song together with the colleague Alfred Svensson. But almost exactly a year ago, Klas and his girlfriend lost Julia Kvarnström their newborn daughter, Elsa. In a interview with The evening paper tells Klas about what it’s like to lose a child and how the last year has been.
– I have had days after that when I felt that life was meaningless. It goes in waves with sadness. I’ve also had so much fun during this half year. And some days it has been that I just want to go home and look down at my pillow, says Klas.
Klas says that it has been hard to work, but that it is also something that has helped him. He explains that there have been certain moments when he has felt really bad before performances, but that the audience and their joy made him feel better.

Has received support from colleague and friend Alfred Svensson
During the past year, the colleague has and the friend Alfred Svensson been a grateful support for Klas.
– When all this happened, I pushed myself a lot. Alfred has handled all the PR, done a lot with the song, taken interviews and it’s a support. I wouldn’t have been able to take part in it, says Klas.
In the interview, Alfred Svensson also says that he has felt very sorry for his friend and that there is no one better when it comes to getting up and still managing to deliver in a situation like this.
Klas and his girlfriend have become parents again
But a few weeks ago, Klas left and his girlfriend with the happy news that they have once again become parents. On March 19, their son was born, who was named Nils. Klas believes that it is wonderful and difficult at the same time, considering everything that has happened in the past year.
– You are super proud and happy. Then it’s a strange balancing act. You still have the sadness from a previous child, while at the same time you are so happy and proud of this new child. It is a clever navigation to get through. But you are usually very happy, and super grateful that it has gone well and that everyone is healthy.
