KL Rahul’s Return and Wicket-Keeping Practice Bring Hope for Indian Cricket Fans

Bengaluru: The inclusion of injured KL Rahul in the Indian squad for the Asia Cup was controversial. Sanju Samson, who has the best record in ODIs, was brought in as the back-up keeper by Rahul. And that too without playing practice matches. But before the Asia Cup, there is a happy news for the Indian cricket fans. In the training camp, Rahul started wicket-keeping practice along with batting.

Rahul’s batting practice kept Suryakumar Yadav at one end. But running between the wickets was not given importance. Rahul is able to deal with pacers and spinners alike. India’s training camp is at the Three Ovals campus in Alur. The actor not only trained with Suriya but also with captain Rohit Sharma. There are indications that Rahul may be played in the first match against Pakistan. Rohit and Shubman Gill will open the innings. Rahul is more likely to play at number five. If that happens, Ishan Kishan will have to be out of the playing eleven. Sanju doesn’t stand a chance.

Earlier, chief selector Ajit Agarkar had stated during the team selection that Rahul will miss the first two or three matches. Agarkar clarified that the current injury is not part of the previous one.
