KL Agarkar explained about Sanju’s arrival when he explained the reason for banning Rahul. Rahul is playing as an opener in IPL. He completes the work assigned to him magnificently. We were mainly looking for middle order players. “They were looking for players who can swing the bat to the end and finish well,” Agarkar said.
“So we felt that Sanju and Rishabh Pant were suitable for that. Sanju can bat anywhere in the innings. The team has picked according to what we need,” Agarkar said.
Agarkar also spoke about Indian all-rounder Rinku Singh being dropped from the team. “Rinku did nothing wrong to be dropped from the World Cup team. But he could not be included in the last fifteen. It was a difficult decision to get rid of him. Although he was a reserve star, he was wanted. He should be with the team,” Agarkar said.

Rohit Sharma (captain), Yashashwi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wicketkeeper), Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Hardik Pandya (vice-captain), Shivam Dubey, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj are in the team.
The reserve team consists of Shubman Gill, Aathush Khan, Rinku Singh and Khalil Ahmed.
