Armed Criminal Group (KKB) opened fire on Yahukimo Police and Brimob Post in Yahukimo, Highlands Papua. Indonesian Parliament Commission III Deputy Chairman Ahmad Sahroni said a major and planned operation was needed to crush the KKB.
“I think these attacks on the security forces were not just any attacks, but a provocation. So a major but planned and careful operation is needed,” Sahroni told reporters on Saturday (31/12/2022).
Sahroni added that the KKB often plays ‘victim’. That’s because, Sahroni said, the KKB often hides behind a “human rights” shield when law enforcement agencies carry out counterattacks.
“Because the KKB often plays the ‘victim’, they attack us, we react to the attack, then they say we have violated human rights,” added Sahroni.
“So once again the operation must be conducted in an intelligent and focused manner. And it must be directly supervised by the Chief of the National Police and the Commander of the TNI,” he continued.

Papua Police Public Relations Chief Kombes Ahmad Musthofa Kamal explained that a motorcycle carrying children was passing by before the incident. The motorcycle was seen turning at the intersection in front of the Yahukimo police station.
“As he passed the Yahukimo Police SPKT Guard Post, the witness saw the motorcyclist stop and heard the sound of a shot once aiming at the Yahukimo Police Headquarters gate,” Kamal explained in a statement. written, Saturday (31/12 /2022).

Kamal said that after the shooting, the motorcycle ran towards the Kota Dekai clock roundabout. Then yesterday morning the shootings were repeated.
“This group fired again at the Brimob post in Dekai district. The shooting was carried out simultaneously from the front and left side,” Kamal said.
