Kjartan Skjelde went to the wall after participation reality: – terrible

The difference between being a reality show participant and a presenter can be more than many people think. While the participants are filmed around the clock and have to go through long interviews, the presenters can do with a short recording hour and a finished script.

The TV chef Kjartan Skjelde has experienced these differences after his first trip as a participant in the upcoming Viaplay program “Adventurous camping”.

The episode premieres on October 17, and Skjelde doesn’t hold back when it comes to talking about the demanding and challenging schedule that resulted in little sleep and headaches.

– really competitive? What happened there?

Skjelde, known as the presenter of successes such as “Masterchef” and “Camp Culinaris”, tells Nettavisen that after directing reality programs for almost 10 years, it was time to notice the experience of the participants .

– Season after season, these partners come and say “oh, it’s so boring”. I somehow didn’t understand that. Why are they so tired? They are just standing in the kitchen, he says.

So he packed his bags and allowed himself to be inspired by the channel to take part in “adventure camping”, where six celebrities renovate six dilapidated camping cabins in just six days.

– I’m still tired, it was a bone, says Skjelde during the autumn launch of Viaplay in August, two months after recording reality.

– Glamping was not my style at all

Skjelde explains that he has always been interested in modernization. But even with all his enthusiasm, he admits it was more difficult than expected.

– I never thought it would be so boring. Maybe I had a little too high ambitions for what my back was capable of carrying, he says with a laugh.

HARDER THAN EXPECTED: Kjartan Skjelde wanted to test his knowledge and learn a little more about renovation.

According to the deliverer, he was so tired that he walked on the wall and lost sleep at night when he had to spend six days in a tent, which he says as the real challenge of registration.

– I like comfort. Good bed, kitchen, able to cook. Instead, I had to sleep in a glamping tent where the frogs kept me awake all night, he explains and continues:

– There is no insulation in these tents, and it definitely affected sleep, he says.

– The last day was hard

One experience in particular scares Skjelde into watching TV, and that is the doomsday. After five days of intensive work, he realized that he was not close to finishing the project.

– It was a terrible feeling. I really hope that part doesn’t make it onto the screen, he laughs.

It remains to be seen whether Kjartan Skjelde will regret his first visit when the Adventyrlig camp appears, but one thing is certain: life as a participant is much more challenging than he first thought.

When asked if he prefers the role of presenter or partner, Skjelde answers with a twinkle in his eye:

– Call me in a month or so and we’ll see how it’s going!
