– Christmas deserves good music too: A kitsch-free playlist
Musically, the holidays have more to offer than “O Tannenbaum” and “Last Christmas”. Our playlist offers over seven hours of quality music for the holiday season.

Yes, classic Christmas songs are bad. “O Tannenbaum” is the highlight in a canon of hymns that could also be played at a funeral. The crooning shopping center soundtrack of Justin Bieber, Maria Carey and so on: even worse.
Unfortunately, the constant complaining about Christmas music doesn’t make it any better. That’s why we put together a Spotify playlist. On it you will find really good Christmas music and songs that have a Christmas theme. These include not just gospel or jazz songs (those always work), but pieces from all sorts of musical genres.
There’s something contemplative, but also uptempo, and one or two classics like “Jingle Bells” shouldn’t be missing – for example in the honky-tonk country version by Buck Owens. Everything is deliberately mixed up because good music is not one size fits all.
