Kiss gave their very last concert in New York

The US band ended their touring career with a fiery show and avatars for the future.

After exactly 50 years, numerous ups and downs, line-up changes and reunions, the US rock group Kiss has arrived at the “End of the Road” in keeping with their last tour motto. On Sunday night she celebrated her spectacular show again, including all her classics, at the home game in New York’s Madison Square Garden. At the end, avatars of the musicians were presented – the future of Kiss.

“Yes, it’s sad,” said 71-year-old guitarist and singer Paul Stanley in front of a packed hall about saying goodbye to the stage. “But we should be happy about what we have created.” At the farewell, Kiss pulled out all the show stops once again: Simmons showed his famous tongue, spit blood and fire, Stanley sailed over the heads of the audience. Explosions, columns of fire, loud rock – that’s how Kiss thundered through 23 songs of their career.

Kiss had been promoting the “takeover of New York” for days before their very last appearance in their legendary costumes and make-up. Taxis with Kiss branding drove, newspapers were distributed as Kiss special editions, pop-up stores were opened and the Empire State Building was illuminated with the band’s logo and mega-sized images of its members.

$14,500 for the front row

New York City is part of Kiss’ history, they said via Instagram. “That’s why we found it fitting to crown our careers on stage in the Garden.” The farewell concert was broadcast in a paid stream. But if you wanted to be there live, you could quickly purchase a ticket through verified resale via Ticketmaster – for around $14,500 for the front row.

“You should stop when the band is still great and putting on a great show – that is, now,” Stanley told the APA news agency. The costumes weighing more than 20 kilos and the platform boots and the associated exertion on stage were given as reasons for the farewell. But fans also discussed Stanley’s voice, which no longer reaches previous heights flawlessly.

Kiss made their debut in January 1973 in a New York club. In just a few years they had become one of the most successful rock bands in the world. Now the fans in the Garden and on screens around the world celebrated “Rock and Roll All Nite” with the real Kiss one last time. From now on, computer-generated avatars of the Kiss characters will take over (they say you become immortal). However, one or two concerts without painting and costumes cannot be completely ruled out in the future. (APA/ed.)
