Over the weekend, the Arbitration Committee of the Győr-Moson-Sopron County Council sent routine referees to Tényő. County III. the class adults meeting was led by NB III, while the reserves clash was led by County Judge I – thankfully without any atrocities – as an incredible previous event came to the notice of the board. Spectators of the Pér–Tényő reserve league witnessed an unusual story, when during the match a professional footballer in a jacket and tracksuit held up a pistol which to one of the assistants looked like a weapon.
Unfortunately, a photo of the incident was taken, which was then uploaded to the group of one of the social media sites.
“During the reserve match, one of the players of the away team, who otherwise could not have been on the bench, having been called up only for the adult match, brandished a pistol, which he aimed at one of the assistants. I think there is no place for it in the field, near the field, but absolutely nowhere. I don’t know if the weapon was loaded, gas or alarm, or what kind of wound it could cause,” they wrote next to the photo, which is somehow got to the father of one of the referees, who, of course, immediately notified his son. By the way, the referees themselves did not even notice the threat, since at that moment there was no accident on the field that could provoke it, but then, in the official reports of the adult championship after the unfortunate match, they already indicated the clamorous disturbance.
In addition to notifying the national association, MLSZ County Management has filed a police report.
Regarding the incident, the police have provided us with the following information:
“In connection with your press inquiry, we would like to inform you that on November 7, 2022, the Győr Police Department initiated a criminal case on suspicion of committing the crime of harassment in the present case. We are unable to provide any further information on the ongoing investigation”.
Naturally, we also looked for the footballer.
“I would like to state that my actions were clearly a joke, I had no intention of harming anyone, I did not mean to harm anyone! The gun was with a football player’s son, it came to me, it’s just a plastic toy gun, nothing special. On the spot, it didn’t even occur to me what the consequences of a reckless prank might be, which I already regretted that day. I’m very sorry, it was extremely stupid to cause trouble to the others, to myself and to sport,” said the footballer, who also faces severe punishment.
