Blunzenkirtag in Großau was well attended.
This fair is all about the Blunz’n. Better known as the “Blunzenstricker”, the Großau winemakers organize the Blunzenkirtag every year at the end of November together with the municipality and the Bad Vöslau tourist association. And this has been the case for over 40 years now.
At Blunzenkirtag, visitors can expect homemade Blunz’n (blood sausage), the famous “Staubige” (the storm fermented into “dusty”) in the wineries, a number of hearty program items, as well as numerous fairground and market stalls on the street. At the opening of the Blunzenkirtag, the Bad Vöslau wind orchestra plays big. This is followed by the traditional cutting of the giant blueberries. This time the celebrities who attended the Blunzenkirtag were particularly numerous. The huge Blunzenkranzl was cut by State Parliament President Karl Wilfing, State Parliament Member Christoph Kainz and Mayor Christian Flammer. They were closely observed by city councilor Angela Stöckl-Wolkerstorfer from Baden, state parliament member Peter Gerstner and deputy district governor Martin Hallbauer.
