This month, she was unanimously nominated by the election committee to take over as party leader in SV when Audun Lysbakken’s replacement is to be elected at the national meeting in March.

Bergstø is strongly critical of the temporary support package for the oil industry that the Storting adopted in June 2020 to ensure activity in the corona era. SV was one of three parties that voted against the package.

– The oil tax package came into place in a completely different reality, in the middle of the pandemic. Now the oil industry is going crazy – it’s completely wrong for the community to subsidize that party, says Bergstø, referring, among other things, to Equinor’s record result last year.

In January wrote Technical Weekly that 30 oil and gas developments totaling around NOK 400 billion will receive the favorable tax conditions from the oil tax package. According to calculations from last year, the companies can get at least NOK 26 billion in tax relief as a result of the oil tax package.
