“The struggle for the border is a struggle for statehood,” Prime Minister Kiril Petkov said during a meeting with Deputy Agriculture Minister Ivan Hristanov yesterday. During the meeting they discussed the security of our border with the Republic of Turkey. “Thank you and your team for the decisive actions of” Captain Andreevo “, the Prime Minister added, emphasizing that this border is not only external for Bulgaria, but also for the European Union.
Deputy Minister Hristanov informed Prime Minister Petkov that as of Friday the National Reference Laboratory “Central Laboratory for Chemical Testing and Control” (CLHIC) at the BFSA is performing laboratory analysis of consignments of fruits and vegetables passing through the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint. According to him, this is the first time in 10 years that the state, represented by the BFSA, has regained border control.
Hristanov explained that the inspectors carry out control in a continuous mode of operation, and additional teams have been sent to help the employees of the checkpoint. He stressed that as a result of sabotage by a private operator, which has been an artificially maintained monopolist at the border for 10 years, to fulfill its contractual obligations, the traffic at the checkpoint is heavy.
“The BFSA works in constant contact with the Turkish side in managing the processes,” Hristanov added.
