Kiril Petkov explained the mistake with BDB

Not “850 loans with an average amount of BGN 50 million” were stopped, but “loans for BGN 850 million with an average amount of BGN 50 million”

During his participation in the program “Politically Incorrect” on the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) The Minister of Economy Kiril Petkov commented on the effect of setting a limit – up to BGN 5 million on loans granted by the Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB).


Subsequently, the Ministry of Economy clarified that not “850 loans with an average amount of BGN 50 million” but “loans for BGN 850 million with an average amount of BGN 50 million” were suspended.

Kiril Petkov’s statement was discussed on social networks by politicians and journalists, who commented that the entire financial resource in BDB is ten times smaller.

On this occasion, Kiril Petkov wrote on Facebook, the following:

“Specifying in the statement: 850 million potential loans with an average size of 50 million – suspended due to the ceiling of 5 million, which we introduced in BDB.”
